Members of the public across Donegal have been warned about a phone scam from a bogus company pretending to be from eir broadband.
Dozens of people have complained about being approached by the con artists claiming to be giving back refunds because of alleged compromised IP addresses.
Once customers have been contacted, they are then put through to an automated system where customers are told about their problem.
However, the good news is that the bogus eir representatives then say they can fix the problem and even reimburse people for their last 12 months of broadband connection.
The scam is somewhat believeable as the con artists have both the person’s phone number and their address.
However, once the scammers have the person in their confidence they then ask for their bank account details to send through the reimbursed money.
