Donegal may be scorching hot under temperatures of 27C and higher today, but it’s a very different story up at Malin today.
Met Eireann’s station at Ireland’s most Northerly Point has recorded a very cool 12.6C at 1pm.
As National Geographic would say, Donegal really is the Coolest Place. Malin Head’s temperatures are a long way off other stations that are ranging from low to high 20s. Some parts of Ireland were due to sizzle under 32C today.
Some temperatures reported at 1pm:
28.6°C Shannon Airport
28.5°C Gurteen
28.1°C Claremorris
28.0°C Mount Dillon
27.7°C Athenry
27.5°C Oak Park
24.6°C Valentia
23.9°C Phoenix Park
22.8°C Cork Airport
12.6°C Malin Head— Met Éireann (@MetEireann) June 29, 2018
The reason for the cold climate at the Inishowen coastline will be partly due to the heavy sea-fog covering the north west today.
Ireland remains under a Status Yellow high temperature warning until 10pm this Saturday 30th June.
The weekend outlook is for hot and dry weather and plenty of sunshine. Highs of 28C are forecast for Saturday and Sunday and some very hot nights. Met Eireann say that showers are likely to affect western and southern areas during the day on Sunday.
