A man was so drunk behind the wheel of his car that he couldn’t stand up when Gardai apprehended him.
Ian Moore was a staggering SIX times over the legal drink driving limit when stopped in Letterkenny on March 25th last.
Gardai noticed Moore when he took an illegal right turn out of the local Aldi store on Neil T Blaney Road and followed him.
He eventually stopped at Letterkenny Retail Park but parked sideways across a number of parking bays.
Letterkenny District Court was told that Moore, of 4 Robinson Hall, Letterkenny, was so drunk he couldn’t stand when ordered out of his car.
When arrested and breathalysed, he had a reading of 128 mgms of alcohol per 100 mls of breath.
The court heard that Moore had previous convictions for drink-driving.
His solicitor, Mr Farnk Dorrian, said his client has a serious issue with alcohol but had been sober for “three to four weeks” and is also attending an alcohol counsellor.
Judge Paul Kelly adjourned the case until July 23rd to allow for a Probation Report to be carried out on Moore.
