Inishowen artists are getting into the spirit of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open by hosting a charity art auction to coincide with the Pro-Am which at Ballyliffin.
On 4th July, the same day as the Pro-Am which is hosted by the Rory Foundation, where professional and amateur golfers will play a tournament in aid of charity, artists in Inishowen are coming together with a charity event to raise money for the local branch of the lifeboat charity RNLI.
The charity auction of artwork will take place at The Strand Hotel, Ballyliffin at 8pm on Wednesday, July 4 with a special gin tasting evening, kindly sponsored by Gunpowder Gin and Dalcassian Wines.
The four artists – Sinead Smyth, Mary Crowley, Clare Toland and John O’Connor – are donating one piece of art each which will be sold to the highest bidder.
The evening will also launch the Blue Room Gallery and meeting room at The Strand Hotel, which will be a huge asset to Ballyliffin.
Artists from around the peninsula will have a space to show work while business people can be creatively inspired by the beautiful works on display around the meeting room.
“We are really looking forward to the evening”, said Sinead Smyth, one of the artists.
“We are very grateful to The Strand Hotel which has been so supportive and very open to listening to our ideas. It really has been a team effort, and the whole of Inishowen is looking amazing,” she added.
“It will be such a special event, a bit of fun and a great opportunity to highlight the life-saving charity which is so important to the people of the Inishowen community”, said John Keys, manager of The Strand Hotel.
