The eagerly anticipated Supermac’s launch in Donegal Town is not too far away now, as Donegal Daily can confirm that the diner doors will open on Friday the 3rd of August.
That Friday will be a ‘Fry-Day’ for many as the restaurant will begin serving out Supermac’s famous chips, burgers and pizzas.
Franchisee, Ken Foley told Donegal Daily that it’s all systems go building up the team until the opening date. Seventy jobs have been created locally at the plaza, which includes a food outlet and petrol filling station.
Mr Foley, who also operates the franchise for the outlet on the Bundoran Rd in Sligo, added that a grand opening in Donegal will take place at a later date. Another big event coming up for the branch is the arrival of the Cannonball Run in September 2018.
The Cannonball is the largest organised road trip in Europe and the most exciting motoring and social event of the year. The event will see most of the world’s top mark cars such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce blazing a trail to a pitstop at Supermac’s in Donegal.
Supermac’s are celebrating 40 years in business in 2018 and the country’s largest quick service food chain has announced that it was going to create 400 jobs with six new restaurants.
Outlets in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, Naas, Co Kildare, and Ballyvollane in Co Cork have already opened while two others in Co Cork – Tivoli and Bandon Road – will officially open in the coming weeks.
M.D. Pat McDonagh, said that the new store openings were being driven by customer demand. “The success of our Fresh range of fresh, never frozen, beef and chicken has meant that we are opening several new outlets throughout the country to meet customer demand with more planned later in the year,” he said.
Supermac’s recently made its way onto the exam pages of the Leaving Cert business higher level paper. Students were asked to evaluate the pros and cons of franchising as a method of business expansion.
