Dungloe southpaw Matthew McCole won gold at the Haringey Box Cup in London this afternoon.
McCole – pictured above with boxing pundit Steve Bunce – edged out Repton BC’s Alston Ryan in the light-welterweight final at the prestigious tournament.
McCole, beaten by Kenneth Doyle in the Irish Senior final back in December, had already beaten Jordan McIntosh and Ewan Jenkins in the tournament.
At the Great Hall of Alexandra Palace, McCole had the edge on the tricky Ryan in the final.
McCole, who was representing Letterkenny Institute of Technology in an Irish third level selection, took a 3-2 split decision from the judges.
