The overnight leader in the National Rally at the 2018 Joule Donegal International Rally, Damien Tourish, has been forced to withdraw from the event.
The Finn Valley man held a slender overnight lead of just 0.3 seconds from Ian Barrett.
However, an issue with an oil leakage in the Mk2 Escort had forced Tourish – who had been really on the pace through Friday – to pull out.
Tourish didn’t make it out of Parc Ferme this morning, meaning Barrett – with Paul McGee on the notes – is now into the lead in the Darrian.
After SS7, the first loop of Carnhill, Barrett and McGee now hold the lead from Kevin Gallagher and Noel O’Sullivan in another Darrian.
In the international rally, Manus Kelly and Donall Barrett have extended their lead on Declan Boyle to 16.6 seconds.
Quickest across Carnhill was Garry Jennings and Rory Kennedy, by 3.8 seconds, and they have narrowed the deficit to Boyle to just 2.3 seconds.
