The annual Glenswilly 5K is set to draw large crowds next week for the hugely popular family race.
This year’s fundraiser will be held on Tuesday 19th of June. All proceeds from the event, which starts at 7.30pm, will go to the development of underage teams at the GAA club.
The great family evening is always really well attended, with a fun atmosphere and outstanding refreshments to enjoy afterwards.
Well-known club members helped launch the event this week, including the young boys and girls from Olympian YAC and Glenswilly’s own Clare and Michael Gallagher.
Special guests are the launch were Donegal Ladies Star Laura Gallagher from Michael Murphy Sport, Natika Burke the National Novice Cross Country Champion from Letterkenny AC and Glenswilly’s Sean McGinley National Cross Country Champion from the Olympian YAC.
The race will start on Tuesday evening at Glenkeeragh, just before McGeehans Lane as usual at 7.30pm and finish on the Dark Lane
Registration is available on Monday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm and Tuesday from 6pm onwards.
But although dubbed a race, a major emphasis will be placed on the fun element of the evening and people getting out in the fresh air.
Money raised will go towards funding equipment and transport for young teams. All are encouraged to come out in support of the children and enjoy a great community evening.
Remember, this race is part of the Runners Grand Prix and we kindly ask registered walkers to allow the runner to start ahead of them at the starting line.
After the race everyone is invited back to the clubhouse for tea and refreshments.
Prices for the event are the same as last year.
