International day was held in Illistrin National School with parents and grandparents coming in for a coffee morning and to view the project work done by pupils in the school.
This has now become a tradition in Scoil Naomh Fiachra with the teachers praising it as a great celebration of culture and diversity within the school community. Classes during the day visited the hall to view project work on the theme of my family here , my family abroad.
This also ties in with the celebration of the world meeting of families and art pieces that were displayed from different age groups in the school. Food was tasted from different countries with children and parents bringing great enjoyment out of the event.
Workshops for the junior and middle classes were held outside in the sunshine.
The school would like to thank all the children, parents and staff who made it a day to remember. And would also like to pass on appreciation to Kelly’s Centra and Doherty Fruits for their assistance.
