The Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, is coming to Donegal this weekend.
He will be special guest at the annual Diocese of Clogher one-day retreat on Lough Derg, which takes place this Saturday.
This will the nuncio’s first visit to the Diocese of Clogher since he took up his appointment to Ireland last year.
Pilgrims from every parish in the diocese are expected on Lough Derg next Saturday. The pilgrimage will be led by the Diocesan Administrator, Monsignor Joseph McGuinness and pilgrims will be welcomed by the Prior of Lough Derg, Fr La Flynn and the Lough Derg team. The retreat will conclude with the celebration of the Eucharist in the early afternoon.
St Patrick’s Sanctuary at Lough Derg is under the control of the Diocese of Clogher. It is a holy place apart.
Over the past 150 years, over two million people have visited the island to take part in the various exercises of prayer and conversion. Lough Derg invites people to take a detour from the daily routine, to discover the difference a day on the sacred Island can make.
The One Day Retreat is different from the three-day pilgrimage in that it offers a shorter retreat experience where shoes remain on and lunch is served.
One Day Retreats enable a much wider audience to enjoy the sanctity of this island made holy through the centuries of pilgrim prayer.
Booking is essential. Admission fee of €40 per person Includes all refreshments, lunch, return boat service, ministry services, free car & coach parking. Boats available from 9.15am on the day; retreat begins at 10.20am. For booking and details email info@loughderg.org
