A Donegal resident is full of praise for her postman this week after receiving a letter with an alternative address.
Nevermind Eircodes – this letter made its way to Martina Neller in Falcarragh without a home address, or a county for that matter.
“To Martina, the German lady with the 2 dogs and the raspberry hair. Falcarragh. Irland.” was all that An Post needed to get this fun decorated envelope from Berlin to Donegal.
The letter arrived at Martina’s home in just four days after it was sent by a German tourist.
In fairness, the sender did give a great description of Martina that any local postman who knows his town would be able to suss out!
Martina shared this letter with Donegal Daily to show us how her postman is “absolutely brilliant.” She moved to Donegal 18 years ago and has been living in Falcarragh for two years. Such a feat, she said, would never happen in Germany:
“This would not happen in Germany that’s why it is so funny… friends always complain that post was returned to sender because the postman stated that the person doesn’t live there… even though people lived there all their lives,” Martina said.
“Our postman is the best,” she stated – and we’d have to agree!
