Thousands of people across Donegal are expected to wake up and walk in the tenth annual Darkness Into Light for Pieta House this Saturday morning.
The fundraising and awareness event will take place in 10 locations in Co. Donegal this year. The 5km walk begins at 4.15am on Saturday 12th May and ends with the sunrise.
If you are thinking about registering at the last minute, it’s important to note that you cannot sign up at the venue. Darkness into Light is online registration only this year – visit dil.pieta.ie to register now.
The cost is €25 per adult and €5 per child aged 6-17. You can do it as an individual or create a team. Participants are encouraged to get sponsored for their walk, and use their participation to share the light and help promote suicide prevention and to tackle the stigma.
Participation in Darkness Into Light, supported by Electric Ireland, raises awareness of self-harm and suicide, but it’s the fundraising efforts that will enable Pieta House to provide this life-saving support to people in need.
Well over 400 people have passed through Pieta House in Letterkenny since it opened its doors in 2017. The money raised through DIL helps to keep Pieta House’s life-saving counselling services free.
If you are taking part in Darkness into Light 2018, send your photos into Donegal Daily at info@donegaldaily.com to be featured.
