Rory Kavanagh’s first step into management has proved to be a successful one after the Letterkenny man guided Donegal to Buncrana Cup success.
A 1-13 to 1-12 win over Tyrone at The Scarvey this evening sees the silverware return to Donegal for the first time since 2013.
Eoin de Burca’s goal in the first half gave Donegal a comfortable lead and a late Daniel Fullerton penalty didn’t come in time to worry Donegal.
“We were hanging on a bit with the late penalty, but I’m so so happy because I know the effort they’ve put in,” Kavanagh said.
“Boys had to stand up in certain periods of the game. The boys who came in did well and it’s been a squad effort.
“These lads made a lot of sacrifices so I’m delighted they got a bit of silverware.”
