Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has demanded action over HSE failure to deliver incontinence pads to vulnerable adults and children.
The Donegal Senator said he has been contacted by parents and guardians who are not getting essential incontinence pads delivered to them in time and are being left short of supply for their children and adults with disabilities.
Senator Mac Lochlainn brought the issue before the Seanad yesterday afternoon to call on the HSE to solve the problems.
He said: “It is quite unfortunate that I had to raise this issue as it relates to a situation that no parent or guardian should find themselves in.
“I and my colleagues in Sinn Féin have been contacted by a number of parents and guardians as regards the non-delivery of essential incontinence pads for children and adults with disabilities.
“Parents have called our offices angry and upset at the serious problems with the deliveries of the incontinence wear which has left them short of supply and some with no supply at all. It is a disgrace; they have been failed by the HSE and failed by the courier service responsible for delivering these essential products.
“These families and carers are being promised time and time again that a delivery will arrive the following day, but every day passes with more excuses and no incontinence pads. Needless to say, this is causing extreme difficulty for families and carers.
“Sinn Féin are calling on the HSE to sort this out as a matter of urgency.”
