The memory of a much-loved young Letterkenny man will now be recalled when a special table quiz is held to raise funding for a defibrillator for Glenswilly National School.
Thomas Sweeney, from Tullygay, passed away prematurely in May last year as result of a cardiac arrest.
Now friends and family will gather in the Station House Hotel on Friday next at 9pm for a table quiz in his honour.
There’s no questions that memories will be evoked of a young man who was very kind and humble with a very easy manner that anyone would warm to.
Thomas was born in 1978 the youngest of a family of seven.
He had a very happy childhood playing and working on the family farm.
He developed an interest in the mechanics of how things worked and came 2nd in Ireland in the Young Engineer of The Year with his working model of an aeroplane wing.
He later studied electronic engineering at the LYIT and Limerick University and went on to become a Service Engineer with GE Healthcare, diligently installing and servicing vital medical equipment in hospitals all over the country.
While based in Dublin he met Sarah and after they married they built a home on the family farm which they filled with four wonderful children.
Being at home with his wife and children was what brought Thomas the most happiness.
Sadly Thomas was taken prematurely as the result of a cardiac arrest last May aged 38 and has been desperately missed by his wife Sarah, Children Lisa, Aoife, Dara, Mathew, Mother Isobel, Sisters Marie, Ruth, June, Brothers PJ, Liam, Seamus, wider family and friends.
