Two ready-made salad products sold in Irish supermarkets have been recalled as a precautionary measure by the Food Safety Authority.
The products by Wonderfood Salads containing bacon have been recalled due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes – a contaminate that can cause infections in at-risk people.
The recall affects Chicken, Bacon & Sweetcorn Deli Filler which was bought in Dunnes Stores and an Aldi Specially Selected Baby Potato with Bacon Salad. No other products are affected. See details below:
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that is associated with two types of disease. Invasive listeriosis affects ‘high-risk people’ (including pregnant women, cancer patients, AIDS patients, the elderly and the very young). This disease is characterised not only by the severity of the symptoms but also by a high mortality rate.
Non-invasive listeriosis is the milder form of the disease. Symptoms include diarrhoea, fever, headache and myalgia (muscle pain).
