Daniel and Majella O’Donnell’s appearance on RTE’s Room to Improve has attracted a number of overeager visitors to their Donegal home.
The RTE property show revealed the location of the star couple’s home to over 700,000 TV viewers last February. This exposure has led to superfans invading the Kincasslagh property, Majella has revealed.
Majella says fans have been looking in their windows when they are out and even driving up through their gates when family are coming and going.
She told the Irish Mirror: “We’ve had a couple of people turn up at the house, you know, and we weren’t there.
“A friend of mine was in our home feeding my chickens and the gate was locked and these people jumped over the fence anyway went up and were looking in the window.
!My friend went over to them and said excuse me but you’re not meant to be in here, and they said oh but we saw it on television so we thought we’d come up and have a look. I thought now that’s a bit wild did you not see enough on television.
“Then another day my daughter was leaving so the gates were open and a couple from Cork and Monaghan came up through the drive. She was driving out, they just drove up, I’m beginning to think people think because it was on telly, it’s public property.”
Majella said the house has brought her great happiness and comments on the home renovation have been great, but the thought of everyone knowing about their home interiors has unsettled her.
“Everybody has been talking about the show but sometimes I’d be sitting at home thinking oh for god sake the whole country knows my yellow chair, where I’m sitting,” she said.
Celebrity Architect Dermot Bannon transformed the O’Donnell’s home into a beautiful bright and airy space in a large-scale project after many months of work. The reveal episode on February was the most-watched in the show’s history.
