A Letterkenny Rovers player has been handed a 12-month suspension by the Football Association of Ireland.
Striker Pajo Rafferty has been banned following an incident in Rovers’ FAI Intermediate Cup semi-final against Firhouse Clover.
Rafferty became involved in an incident with match referee Marty McGarrigle after being sent off by the referee late in the game.
Rafferty was called to FAI HQ this week to answer charges and was accompanied by senior club officials, including manager Eamonn McConigley.
The FAI’s Disciplinary Controls Unit (DCU) examined the referee’s report and sought submissions before coming to a determination.
Rafferty’s 12-month suspension will be completed towards the end of March, 2019.
Rovers face Firhouse Clover in the replay of their semi-final this Sunday at 2pm in Dublin.
