IT Sligo is hosting an exciting Field Day for people who are interested in finding out more about a career in Environmental Science.
Activities on the day will include a visit to near-by sites of geological interest, water quality assessment and soil sampling.
The free event will be held at IT Sligo on Saturday, April 14 from 1pm to 5pm and is being hosted by the Department of Environmental Science.
The Field Day will be of particular interest to those considering studying Environmental Science at IT Sligo.
Dr Frances Lucy, Head of Department of Environmental Science, said: “The day will be run by our experienced lecturing staff who will get the students involved in hands-on field work. It is a real taster day for our well-recognised Environmental Science degrees. If you are enjoying geography and biology at school, this event is for you.
“Our graduates are walking straight into well paid jobs in both the public and private sector. For students who like a mix of indoor and outdoor life, this is a great career path involving field work, lots of technology and never a boring day!”
Although the event is free, places are limited so booking is essential. To book a place, please contact Dr Frances Lucy at lucy.frances@itsligo.ie by April 12. For more information, see www.itsligo.ie
Participants are required to wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear. Please bring along wellies, sunscreen and a packed lunch.
