North West Words has hosted a special awards ceremony for the winners of their 2018 Creative Writing Competition.
The overall competition winner was Tara McDermott!
The awards ceremony took place at Florence Food Co. in Letterkenny, with judge Deirdre Hines and Cllr. Gerry McMonagle presenting the prizes.
Sponsored by Eason, North West Words received fantastic submissions from talented young people from across the North West.
There are three categories; Primary Schools, Secondary Schools Junior Cycle, and Secondary Schools Senior Cycle.
Young writers were invited to pen a short story of up to 1,000 words, or a poem of up to 40 lines. Both the poetry and prose could be based on any theme, giving these young writers a blank canvas for their imaginations to flourish.
