Jigsaw Donegal launched their Annual Art Exhibition “Hope” on Thursday 22nd March in the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.
The Art Competition was offered out to Transition year, 5th year and 6th year art students, those attending Youthreach in Donegal and the Donegal YMCA STEP. The aim of the competition was to promote positive mental health through art and also to give young people a chance to have their artwork displayed on the walls of Jigsaw Donegal with the top four pieces framed and placed in the Jigsaw Hub.
In first place was Bethany Smyth (Royal and Prior Raphoe), second place was Jessica Mc Monagle (Lifford Youthreach), third place was Molly Gallagher (Loreto Convent) and fourth place was Claire Young (Loreto Convent) . Certificates of Merit were also awarded to 10 individuals for the pieces they entered to the competition.
The exhibition itself will be opened until Friday 6th April to the general public if anyone would like to take the opportunity to view the pieces entered. On behalf of Jigsaw Donegal, thank you to everyone who entered the competition and also to Mr Shaun Hannigan and everyone at the Regional Cultural Centre for their help in displaying the exhibition.
Jigsaw Donegal aims to ensure access to youth friendly, integrated mental health supports when and where young people need them in their community through a multi-disciplinary team while also promoting positive mental health in the community.
