Two Letterkenny schools came up with a wonderful way to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day earlier this week, with the students selling everyone’s favourite sweet treat – ice cream!
The Student Council of Loreto Secondary School teamed up with the Student Council of St Eunan’s College to host a ‘cool’ ice cream day, raising a whopping €1,328 for the cause.
The day was a huge success at both schools, with a great atmosphere and sense of community throughout the schools as everyone came together to celebrate this special day.
The Loreto girls did a magnificent job in obtaining sponsorship for the ice cream from local businesses such as Dale Farm, Castle Grove House Hotel and Kelly’s of the Mountain Top. The girls would like to extend a huge thank you to the businesses for their generosity.
The Chairperson of the Loreto Student Council, Emma Tinney would like to thank Ollie Harvey of Dale Farm in particular as he gave the girls the lend of a freezer and gave a very generous donation towards the event. “No task was too big for Ollie and the student councils are very appreciative of this,” she told Donegal Daily.
All proceeds that were raised on the day are going directly to Donegal Down Syndrome.
The two councils would also like to thank the staff and principals from both schools for their co-operation.
