A non-uniform day at Lurgybrack National School has raised vital funds for a Haitian charity.
Past pupil Niamh Farrell, who is currently studying Medicine at UCD, spent last summer volunteering at a Sports and Literacy Camp for kids aged between 4 and 12 in Haiti. Niamh was one of fifteen volunteers to take part in the programme.
The camp also provided the children with two meals a day.
Amazingly, the volunteers also constructed a house for a family of 13!
Niamh will be making the trip west again this summer, and will be located in the small town of Gros-Morne in the north of Haiti.
Mr. Reynolds’ sixth class presented Niamh with a cheque to help her with her humanitarian work. The school wishes Niamh all the best.
