Jason Quigley had his final spar in Sheffield today with Liam Williams ahead of his Easter Saturday bout in Boston – and the Ballybofey man says he ‘couldn’t be in better shape’.
Quigley hosted an open workout in his native Ballybofey on Saturday where hundreds turned up to see the unbeaten Golden Boy Promotions prospect (13-0, 10KOs) in action.
The former European Elite champion has moved based from Los Angeles to Sheffield and is now training under Dominic Ingle in the Steel City.
“Boxing is a tough, very individual sport, it’s tough in the ring, but it makes no sense to make it tough out of the ring too,” Quigley said at his workout in Jackson’s Hotel on St Patrick’s Day.
“I know I have the mental ability and the discipline to take care of that. I needed to enjoy it a bit more.
“There are no doubts at all; it’s just a case of ‘get me in there!’
“I couldn’t be in better shape – mentally and physically.”
Quigley has not fought since his win over Glen Tapia last March in Indio, when he won the NABF middleweight belt, but, ahead of next weekend’s clash with Daniel Rosario in Quincy, he said: “2017 happened. I had a great victory, won the NABF middleweight title and everything was looking good until I broke my hand. Everything happens for a reason and I was able to make a lot of changes.”
