Students of Scoil Roisín celebrated Lá Gaelach for Seachtain na Gaeilge this week, and enjoyed a wonderful day of music, quizzes, and treasure hunts!
The newly formed Banna Ceoil Scoil Roisín stepped out in style, marching in a shamrock formation to honour Ireland’s patron saint, St. Patrick.
Onlookers were delighted by the display, with the band putting on a fantastic show with a medley of jigs, polkas, and marches, with a special drum solo composed and performed by sixth class pupil Calum Glackin.
After putting down their instruments, the band made their way inside for the Céilí Mór with family and friends, with the school’s Irish dancers donning their exquisite costumes and showcasing their toe-tapping talent.
Spending the day celebrating our Irish language, culture, and heritage, Scoil Roisín also organised a Leprechaun hunt in the school yard, where teams of pupils headed out in search of clues to crack a mysterious code and find the potá ór.
From there, pupils took part in the Tráth na gCeist where pupils from all classes answered a wide and varied range of questions as Gaeilge.
Lá fhéile Pádraig sona duit!
