Seamus Coleman has spoken of his Man of the Match comeback display for Everton in January.
The Killybegs man ended ten months of injury hell with an energetic performance against Leicester City at Goodison Park, ten months after suffering a double leg break while captaining the Republic of Ireland against Wales in a World Cup qualifier.
Goodison rocked to Coleman’s tune on his return.
“That night, in particular, to come out an know every Evertonian in this stadium was really happy to see me back…it is a very humbling feeling,” Coleman said.
“The whole day leading up to the game was an exciting day for me, just walking down the tunnel and knowing you’re about to play a Premier League game again.
“What made it special for me, I have always said it, one of my favourite fixtures is playing at Goodison under the lights.”
Coleman has become a real fans favourite for the Toffees.
He said: “It’s surreal, really, to think you have left that impression on the fans. It just goes to show that if you do things the right way, work hard, be professional, give your all to the cause, then you will get that love back. I definitely felt that, that night. It will be a feeling that will stay with me for a long time.”
