Young people of Letterkenny will have to look no further than LOFT for a fun-filled afternoon this St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday the 17th.
The Mentors group have planned a great afternoon for the young people of Letterkenny. To start they will be handing out free tea, coffee and hot chocolate to the public before and during the parade right outside Donegal Youth Service at 16-18 Port Road.
After the parade, the doors will open from 2-6pm to the drop-in for the rest of the afternoon’s festivities with food, music and games on offer to young people.
The Ireland v England Six Nations Finale will also be shown from 2.45. There will also be a quiz and information on the risks of alcohol and binge drinking. With the ‘Beast From The East’ expected to make a brief return, it will be the perfect place to warm up after watching the parade.
LOFT are here to provide a fun and safe alternative for St. Patrick’s Day, with an inclusive event that is strictly drug and alcohol free. They also encourage adults who are around children and young people to be positive examples and to drink responsibly.
All young people, whether they have been to The Loft before or not, are encouraged to come along and pop in.
The day has been made possible thanks to a grant from the North West Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force.
LOFT is a support service for young people aged 12-18, or depending on need, jointly managed by Donegal Youth Service and Foróige. They offer group work, one-to-one support, the drop-in space, summer programmes and much more.
