The Arranmore Red Ferry has been joined by a school of energetic dolphins during crossings in recent weeks, much to the delight of its passengers.
The bottlenose dolphins have been spotted enjoying the winter sunshine and splashing through the clear blue waters between the island and mainland.
Donna Marie Sweeney of the Arranmore Ferry says the pod has appeared numerous times since before Christmas 2017. The sightings have been almost weekly in the last couple of months, and have been quite the attraction for visitors.
“The dolphins were there all weekend last week, and we had people down last Saturday who travelled on the boat just to see them,” Donna Marie said.
