A Letterkenny man who escaped from Garda custody and went on the run has appeared in court again amid tight security.
William Reilly appeared before today’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court on alleged assault and criminal damage charges.
Reilly, aged 25, fled from custody and hid in local garden sheds when he jumped a barrier at the courthouse in Letterkenny in January.
He was arrested at a routine Garda checkpoint on Friday night last in Castlefin.
His solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, told today’s court that his client was already serving a sentence form the circuit court.
He said he understood that the assault allegations against his client were now being withdrawn.
He asked for the case to be adjourned until March 25th to allow his client to appear by videolink.
