In light of yesterday’s status red snow-ice warning from Met Eireann, events were postponed and businesses shut their doors.
A status orange warning is currently in place for Donegal, with many closures reported throughout the county for today, Friday, 2nd March.

Post Offices
All Post Offices closed yesterday at 1pm and will remain closed throughout the country today, Friday, until further notice.
An Post reminds all customers due to collect social welfare payments at Post Offices that their payments will be available for collection when this period of bad weather passes.
“Advice regarding Post Office services will be updated in due course with due regard for staff safety and the advice provided by the National Emergency Coordination Group,” a spokesperson says.
Aldi
All Aldi stores will be closed until 5pm today.
Tesco
All Tesco stores will remain closed today. A spokesperson for Tesco Ireland says: “We have taken this decision in the interest of the safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers. Stores will re-open tomorrow Saturday, 3rd March.”
Penneys
A spokesperson for Penneys says: “All of our stores in the Republic of Ireland will be closed today. We plan to reopen all stores tomorrow [Saturday], subject to local conditions.”
Marks and Spencer
The Letterkenny Marks and Spencer will open at 12pm today. All of their other stores in the Republic of Ireland will open tomorrow, weather permitting.
Dunnes Stores
All Dunnes Stores in Ireland will remain closed today. Although they originally hoped to reopen their Northern Ireland stores at 1pm today, they have decided to remain shut until tomorrow due to the inclement weather conditions. They plan for all stores to reopen at their normal opening times tomorrow, Saturday.
