Could this be Donegal’s tallest snowman?

A father and daughter team in Donegal have been spending their snow days hard at work building a monstrous snowman called Big Olaf the Second.

Standing at an incredible 14ft, this gigantic creation was the work of Redcastle dad Kristian Shortt and his daughter Abbi. At this stage, Big Olaf the Second is in the running as one of Ireland’s tallest of the year.

Kristian and Abbi got to work on Thursday after the heavy snowfall blanketed Inishowen, and within two days they had built the snowman so high that they needed a ladder to continue the construction.

Kristian estimated that it took three tonnes of snow to build. While most families need twigs for snowman arms, this one has full-on branches! Now that’s a Beast!
