Keith Cowan is back to make up for 16 months of agony as the Finn Harps defender looks to make an immediate return to the Premier Division.
Following a horrific knee injury, sustained while playing against St Patrick’s Athletic in October 2016, Cowan watched all of the 2017 season from afar as Harps were relegated from the Premier Division.
Cowan sits now in a much-changed Harps dressing room, but his sights are set on working the way out of the First Division.
“Promotion has to be the goal,” Cowan said.
“We have as good a chance as anyone. It’ll take the first few games to play each other once to see what they have. It’s in the forefront of everyone’s mind that we’re here to get out of this Division.”
Twice previously, Cowan battled back from cruciate knee ligament injuries.
And the 32-year-old insists he has plenty to give to Harps. In pre-season, Cowan netted in a game against Sligo Rovers and feels ready for combat again.
He said: “I still believe I have a bit to offer and I still believe I can play in the First Division, and even in the Premier Division. I believe I still have a career in football.”
