Two safes have been stolen during a raid on the Railway Tavern and Firebox Grill in Fahan.
The raid took place when the premises was closed during the early hours of Monday morning last.
The exact contents of the safes have not been disclosed.
It is understood the thieves gained entry through the premises via a side door and a lot of damage was done to the building.
The raid was only discovered when staff arrived to open up the premises on Monday morning.
A full investigation has been launched by Gardai but no arrests have yet been made.
Gardai in Buncrana have appealed for anybody who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously to get in contact with them on 0749320540.
Cllr Jack Murray has shared the followed image of the alleged thief.
“The picture below was taken from CCTV and I’ve been told that the suspect was carrying a blue and black Animal branded backpack.
“Anyone with any information which could be helpful should contact gardai,” Cllr Murray said.
