A new wave of phishing emails pretending to be from Irish Revenue are trying to trick customers into clicking on fraudulent links.
The convincing emails, with official logos and signatures, tell the consumer that they are due a tax refund and instruct them to click on a link to get an application form. The scam can also come in text message form.

Revenue has warned that the correspondence is not from the department and anyone who receives the message and suspects it to be fraudulent or a scam should simply delete it.
Anyone who provided personal information in response to these fraudulent emails or text messages should contact their bank or credit card company immediately.
“The Revenue Commissioners never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows,” a statement said.
Anyone who is actually awaiting a tax refund is asked to contact their local Revenue Office to check its status.
