A Letterkenny woman is set to feature on First Dates Ireland, but the date has already been labelled as a not-so-successful pairing.
In this week’s episode of the reality dating show, nurse’s aide Michelle Simmons is matched with Killian from Midleton, Cork.
The conversation doesn’t exactly flow from the moment they meet, which has prompted RTE2 to label it ‘The Most Awkward First Date Yet’.
Killian, a corporate crisis manager, makes a desperate bid to fill the silences. Instead, he flails through a flirty one-liner that Michelle is forced to politely laugh off:
“No point, you know, in being at home looking at the four walls when you can be out with a fantastic looking specimen as myself,” he says.
In the preview clip above, the date may be one of the most realistic Irish first date scenes yet. Michelle says the conversation will pick up after a few drinks, but viewers will have to tune in this Tuesday to see if she’s right!
First Dates Ireland airs on RTE2, Tuesday 6th Feb at 9.30pm.
