Picture Special & Results: Eoghan McGinley first home at Daly’s XL Spring Series 5k in Strabane

The second 5k of Daly’s XL Spring Series took place this morning in Strabane.

First home was Letterkenny AC’s Eoghan McGinley who is continuing his fine form with a 15.38 finish. Second home was Carmen Runners athlete Martin Cox in 15.56, with McGinley’s teammate Pauric Breslin from Letterkenny AC placing third in 16.07.

In the women’s race, hometown runner Claire McGuigan, Lifford Strabane AC also continued her excellent early season form, crossing the line in 17.53. Finn Valley’s Leoni Mullen was second in 18.56 with teammate Jessica Roberts third in 19.31.

The final race in the Series will be held in Lifford on Sunday 11th September with a 10.30am race start.

A spokesperson for Lifford Strabane AC says: “While it was a mild morning temperature wise and the rain held off for the race, the wind was a bit of a factor against the runners along the Strabane Bypass. Nevertheless, there was some excellent running with a lot of fine times and personal bests posted.

“Once again, a big thank you to everyone who helped out today. To those at Registrations, Marshalling the course and serving up Refreshments, a big thank you. Thanks also to Sigersons GAA club for the use of their fine facilities. Thanks to Bernie Fleming, David McElwaine and the PSNI for their help with race organisation and policing.
