Buncrana woman Bernie Duffy has organised a novel fundraiser in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin – a farmer’s auction, at a pub!
The fundraiser will go ahead at the Halfway House in Burnfoot next Saturday, with farm animals being auctioned off and displayed on the night.
There will also be a few special items up for grabs that will not only interest the farmers.
Bernie has gotten her whole family involved, with dad Liam, brothers Christopher and John, and nephew Blake helping her to come up with the brilliant idea to raise funds for the children’s hospital. Her uncle Francis Duffy from Lisfannon will also be the auctioneer on the night.
“There will be spot prizes for the ladies and there will also be a raffle on the night with some great prizes to be won,” Bernie tells Donegal Daily.
Fahan woman Bernie says that as she attended the hospital as a baby, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital has always been a place that’s close to her heart, and wanted to give back by fundraising to help other children in need.
“I have raised for this hospital throughout the years as I have great things to say about this hospital and the work they do,” she explained.”
Bernie would like to thank everyone who has supported the event, especially businesses that have donated items and farmers who have donated farm animals.
“I would like to mention the businesses throughout Donegal and overseas that have donated items for the auction and the raffle, and to the local farmers who have donated farm animals to the auction. I am so grateful to them and their support, without them this event would not be taking place, and to my family and friends who are being so supportive and helping out with this event and all the hard work that is going into organizing it this week.
“This is going to be a great night with lots of laughs for women and men, it’s something different as well!”
Music on the night will be provided by High Heels.
‘Ewe’ are all invited to join Bernie on Saturday the 3rd of February at 9pm at the Halfway House, Burnfoot for this unmissable night.
