The frosty morning has given way to a largely dry day with sunny spells.
Met Éireann forecast that it will be cloudy over Donegal today, with outbreaks of rain by late afternoon. Light west to southwest breezes will become moderate during the afternoon, with fresh to strong winds near the coast. Highs of between 6 to 9 degrees are expected today.
Patchy mist and hill fog is expected tonight, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle at times. Temperatures will be between 3 to 6 degrees this evening, warming to 9 to 12 degrees overnight.
“Rain becoming widespread this evening and tonight, heavy at times, especially in parts of the west. The rain will tend to become lighter and patchier towards morning, though. Extensive low cloud and fog on higher ground,” Met Éireann says.
The regional forecast indicates that tomorrow will be dry apart from a little patchy light drizzle in places.
“Some short bright or sunny spells but there will be a lot of cloud about.
“A milder day with highs of 10 to 12 Celsius in moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds, which will veer west to southwest during the morning. Winds will be stronger near the west and north coasts,” they forecast.
