TWO GOALS INSIDE of the first 20 minutes set the tone for Bohemians in their pre-season victory over Finn Harps at Dalymount Park tonight.
Bohemians 2-0 Finn Harps
Keith Cowan returned from his long injury lay-off for the Ballybofey club,<a href=”http://www.donegalsporthub.com/keith-cowan-ready-end-injury-hell-penning-new-finn-harps-deal/”> having signed a contract this week.</a>
Th home side started brightly and took the lead on nine minutes, when Harps failed to deal with a set-piece and Philip Gannon was on hand to shoot past Peter Burke.
The, 11 minutes later, it was two when Darragh Leahy glanced a Paddy Kavanagh into the net.
The side from Phibsbrough were in complete control and Ollie Horgan’s Harps did well to keep their deficit at 2-0. Mark Timlin did have half a chance for the visitors, only to see his shot trickle wide of the post.
Bohemians, in their only home pre-season outing ahead of their Premier Division opener against Shamrock Rovers, changed their entire XI halfway through the second half.
By then Harps had almost pulled one back only for Timlin’s close-range header saved by former Ipswich goalkeeper Shane Supple. At the other end, Burke saved from Gannon.
Timlin was again instrumental in Harps next chance, only to see Tommy McBride’s strike go off target. Bohemians thought they’d added a third on 76 minutes only for Keith Long’s curler to be disallowed for offside.
Dinny Corcoran, five minutes from time, fizzed a shot over the Harps crossbar. Horgan’s team did reasonably well after the concession of the two early goals.
Harps take on Sligo Rovers in their next outing on Thursday night at the Showgrounds.
