Donegal is in for another night of heavy wind and rain after Storm Georgina hit Ireland and the UK on Tuesday.
Rain and hail downpours, with a risk of isolated thunderstorms, are forecast for another unsettled night. Temperatures are set to drop again to lows of 1-5C as Met Eireann warns of a risk of frost in places.
The north west is not set to experience the coldest of conditions (lowest temperatures 3-5C), but high winds will be particularly strong in coastal areas.
The cold and windy conditions will prevail into Thursday morning. Further heavy showers and thunder risks are forecast for the morning. The rain will ease off by the afternoon ahead of a cold night with risks of frost and ice.
Donegal County Council are not deploying gritters tonight, but have warned motorists to be on alert during periods of heavy hail that may cause slippy roads.
