County Council Gritters were out in force this morning to clear main roads after a night of heavy snowfall.
The majority of main routes in Donegal are described as passable with extreme care. Sleet and slush are reported on many routes while drivers should stay on alert for remaining snow in places.
The status orange snow-ice warning for Donegal has been downgraded to status yellow until 10am this Thursday. There will be heavy rain showers today with a risk of hail and thunder in places. Some rain showers may fall as sleet or snow on higher ground.
Met Eireann warns that further showers tonight will turn to sleet and snow again at all levels. Frost and ice are forceast as temperatures reach lows of 0 to 3 degrees.
