Motorists in Donegal this morning are being advised to allow extra travel time after further snowfall leaves many local roads in poor condition but passable with care.
Snowy and icy conditions are reported on local roads and extra care is required in particular on back roads and housing estates that have not been gritted.
Donegal Count Council deployed gritters on major routes across Donegal from 6am, however motorists are advised to assume that no road is ice free. Drivers are reminded to slow down and that stopping distances are ten times longer in snow and ice.
There are no official reports of school closures this Wednesday morning.
The Local Link bus service is advising travellers that the Burtonport to Letterkenny Service will travel via Kilmacrennan and Mountain Top this morning. Delays are expected due to the volume of traffic at Mountain top. The 9.30 service from Letterkenny will go via Glencar then Kilmacrennan.
A Status Yellow Flood Advisory remains in place for coastal areas of Donegal until 9am today.
The national Status Yellow wind warning is also still in place until early Thursday morning. Malin Head recorded one of the strongest wind gusts in Ireland yesterday, measuring 102km/h.
