North West Words has officially opened entries for their 2018 Creative Writing Competition for young writers.
Sponsored by Eason, North West Words are seeking submissions from talented young people from across the North West.
There are three categories; Primary Schools, Secondary Schools Junior Cycle, and Secondary Schools Senior Cycle.
Those entering the Short Story competition can write on any theme, with a maximum of 1,000 words per story.
For the Poetry competition, it can be based on any theme with a maximum of 40 lines per poem.
Entries should be accompanied by a cover sheet with the writer’s name, address, telephone number, school address, title of piece and category.
The winners of each category of each competition will receive a prize sponsored by Eason, with one of the category finalists being awarded the ‘Young Writer of the Year’ prize.
The presentation of prizes will take place at the North West Words monthly event on Thursday 29th March at 7.00pm in Florence Food Co. Main Street, Letterkenny.
The closing date is Friday, 23rd February 2018 at 5pm.

Entries must be your own original work and not previously published.
Entries cannot be changed once entered for competition. Entries cannot be returned.
The competition will be judged by Deirdre Hines. The judge’s decision is final.
Copyright of each entry remains with the author, but North West Words & Eason will have the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems & stories on its website and in press releases publicising the competition.
