DRUMOGHILL 1 V 3 DUNLEWEY CELTIC. Saturday League Division Two leaders Dunlewey Celtic extended their unbeaten run to seven games with this hard fought victory at The Moss and ensured they would remain on top of what is a very competitive and closely contested league. The cultured left foot of full-back Brendan Mc Geady played a big role in this victory. After the visitors had dominated early on and gone close a couple of times Mc Geady’s floated free-kick was headed on by Daniel Cannon and neatly finished by Manus Cannon in the 29th minute to give them a half-time lead. The home side improved after the break and Gary Houston’s free-kick had them level in the 51st minute , keeper Boyce will feel he could have done better in trying to keep it out. Drumoghill had a good spell after this equaliser but Dunlewey steadied the ship and regained the lead when Brendan Mc Geady’s pin-point free-kick found the head of Lorcan Gallagher who neatly steered it into the bottom corner. Three minutes later the same two players combined again to make it 1-3, Mc Geady’s corner wasn’t properly dealt with by the home defence and when the ball was returned to him his drive was too hot for keeper Daniel Mc Cready and
Gallagher pounced to slot it to the net. The final 25 minutes were well contested but with Gallagher and Ciaran Scanlon solid at the back and Sean O Donnell excellent in midfield and despite a late cracker of a goal from 20 yards by Gary Houston, Dunlewey held on to retain their spot at the top of Saturday’s Division Two.
