2017 was a great year for literature lovers, with thousands of great reads covering a huge range of subjects hitting the shelves.
Eason has this week revealed Ireland’s top ten favourite books of 2017. The diverse list includes books from sporting greats, a hair-raising thriller, and an explosive account of the Maurice MacCabe scandal by investigative journalist Michael Clifford.
Taking the top spot is The Gospel According to Blindboy by Blindboy Boatclub.
Blindboy Boatclub, who is part of the comedy duo The Rubberbandits, published his debut novel in 2017 and was met with rave reviews.
“We’re delighted to announce that the overall winner in our poll to find the Favourite Book of 2017 is The Gospel According to Blindboy – the incredible, original and brilliant collection of short stories from Blindboy Boatclub,” a spokesperson for Eason says.
“The award is all the more remarkable for the fact that this is Blindboy’s debut, thereby further heralding the arrival of a major new talent on the Irish literary scene.”
