Emergency search and rescue operation launched for man at local river

An emergency search and rescue operation was launched this morning after a person was reported near a river in Castlefinn.

The Rescue 118 helicopter and Gardai were dispatched after 7am to search for a man seen walking towards water near the Grahamsland area of the Finn Valley town.

Gardai have confirmed that a man in his late 20s was reported missing in the early hours of Friday.

A Malin Head Coast Guard spokesperson has said that their operation has been stood down. The Sligo Rescue 118 helicopter was involved in the extensive search which was coordinated by local gardai.
