The Atlantic Drive New Year’s Day walk/run in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital has surpassed the €10,000 fundraising total, marking another successful year for the popular event.
The wind and the rain did not put off the people of Donegal and beyond, who continue to support this great event that is running for 18 consecutive years now.
At 12 noon people set off from The Singing Pub in Downings to walk 12km of the picturesque Atlantic Drive and all in aid Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.
This year again the number of people who decided to run it rose to over 60 people with 250 walkers happy to start the new year off on the right foot. The beautiful scenery along the course is a sight to behold with many families making a day of it while they walked together.
The event organiser for the past 18 years, Eleanor Mooney, is quick to point out that a lot of hard work goes into it. “I can’t thank people enough for the help and support they give me that allows me to continue to run this event. Everyone is so helpful and I can’t thank everyone enough”
The event this year has raised over €10000 with more cards still to come in. All the money raised goes directly to Crumlin Hospital. Well done to everyone who supported and let’s hope it will continue to grow next year. Have a great 2018!
