In the lead up to Christmas, Donegal Daily put a call out to our readers to send in their favourite Christmas snap and the story behind the picture to our team.
We have received some fantastic submissions and today we reveal our winner and our top three runners-up!
We’re delighted to reveal that our winner is… Mariam Havlin!
Mariam has now won a professional family portrait presented in a stunning frame from Cristeph Studio.
We chose Mariam as our winner as her three pictures capture the magic of Christmas through her children’s eyes.
Redcastle woman Mariam explains the story behind her winning picture: “The fun and excitement to be a child at Christmas patiently waiting on the big day whilst enjoying all the festivities!”
Molly, Jack, and Ella had just finished decorating the Christmas tree before posing for a family photo together, donning their finest festive attire!
“It’s a serious business making sure these baubles are hung right! Ella can’t wait for it to be Christmas!”
Here are some of the other fantastic entries we received this year:
Darragh’s first Christmas
Debbie McConigley shared this beautiful picture of her son enjoying his first Christmas play.
“This is my son Darragh Lee Mc Laughlin, 7 months old, watching his big sister Sophie’s first ever Christmas play in Junior Infants, along with his mum, dad, and brother Eamonn.”
Santa’s arrival
Michelle McCauley captured the moment that Santa made a surprise appearance at her Christmas party!
“I love this photo so much – I organised a Christmas party in 2009 for nine children from extended family!
One of them Caolan, who was 3 at the time, stood in the hall all evening and wouldn’t move. This is Santa arriving into the house! The eye contact between child and Santa! Magical!
Feline festive
Rose McGettigan’s cat Whiskey is certainly the cat’s pyjamas after her daughter Jenna kitted her out in some new Christmas threads.
“This is our cat Whiskey. While shopping on Sunday my 9-year-old daughter, Jenna decided that Whiskey also deserved something new to wear as she was getting a new top for Christmas.
“The only one we could find that fitted best was an accessory for a wine bottle and we put a wee bit of two sided tape on the hat to keep it on. Whiskey wears it here in the picture with pride.”
Thank you so much to everyone who entered and shared your magical Christmas stories with us.
Happy Christmas everyone.
