GALLAGHER HAT-TRICK AS ROVERS CRUISE TO VICTORY. LETTERKENNY ROVERS 7 V 0 KILMACRENNAN CELTIC. Jordan Gallagher’s hat-trick helped Letterkenny Rovers to this, in the end, comfortable win over opponents Kilmacrennan Celtic at the Aura Leisure centre. Rovers lead 2-0 at the break, Ruairi Dennehy’s header following a corner in the 21th minute gave them a deserved lead and they added a second in the 39th minute when Jordan Gallagher raced onto Clinton Ilupeju’s excellent through ball and slotted the ball past keeper Darragh Russell. Any hopes of a Kilmacrennan comeback were knocked back in the second minute of the second-half when Darren Ferry’s Brillant through ball put Ethan Coll in the clear and despite Russell’s super block to deny his first effort the Rovers winger made no mistake with his second attempt to make it 3-0. After that in was pretty much one what traffic as Rovers dominated the remainder of the game. Ryan O Donnell went close several times as did Coll before Jordan Gallagher made it 4-0 with his second goal, racing through after a poor kick-out had been swiftly returned into his path in the 63rd minute. Gallagher completed his hat-trick five minutes later, tapping home Coll’s cross from close range. Sub Conor Friel drove home another Coll cross to make it 6-0, Gallagher drove a penalty wide and Darren Ferry completed the scoring, following up after Russell had again denied Coll with a good save. In Saturday’s other games Leaders Fanad Utd also had a 7-0 win over Eany Celtic and Dunfanaghy Youths beat Keadue Rovers 2-0 to leave the reigning champions Fanad Utd six points clear of Bonagee Utd, Letterkenny Rovers and Dunfanaghy Youths going into the Christmas break, Letterkenny Rovers have played a game less than the other three teams.
