A Co Donegal man really never gets ‘tyred’ of Christmas.
Tyre factory worker Kevin McNulty never thought of the festive fun he might have at his workplace until his wife pointed it out to him.
The dad-of-four, from Raphoe, has worked at TSA Tyres in Ballybofey for more than a decade.
But a novel idea which wife Laura spotted on the internet in Australia has given his Christmas a whole new lease of life.
Kevin, 43, has decorated old tyres and turned them into rubber Christmas trees and snowmen.
The cool decorations, made of all sorts of tyres from tractors, cars and bikes, now adorn Kevin’s house as well as his workplace.
The couple’s kids Kieva, Joey, Lucy and Sophie Rose think their dad is ‘wheelie’ cool.
He explained “My wife spotted it on the internet. Somebody in Australia was doing it and I thought I’d give it a go.
“I started with the traditional Christmas trees which he painted green and then I tried the snowman which is my favourite.
“The kids love them and it’s a bit of fun around the house when neighbours call.
“I don’t think there are many houses around the place with these type of Christmas decorations,” he said.
So is this the start of a new career for Kevin come next Christmas.
“I don’t think so. A few people have mentioned it to me about making more but it’s just a bit of fun.
“They might not last too long outside people’s houses,” he laughed
